tv_grab_eu_epgdata suddenly not working anymore with tvheadend

  • I have recently purchased a new EpgData Membership for one year (had one before already). So I updated the PIN for tv_grab_eu_epgdata.
    Since then tv_grab_eu_epgdata is not working anymore with tvheadend.

    Running /usr/bin/tv_grab_eu_epgdata manually from the terminal (SSH) works without problems:

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ /usr/bin/tv_grab_eu_epgdata
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE tv SYSTEM "xmltv.dtd">
    Downloading include zip file
    Downloading zip file for day 1
    Downloading zip file for day 2
    Downloading zip file for day 3
    Downloading zip file for day 4
    Downloading zip file for day 5
    Your PIN will expire around Mon Jan 9 20:16:19 CET 2023
    ....

    When I am checking the tvheadend [definition='1','0']log[/definition] (via the web-interface) I can see this:

    Any ideas what the problem could be? Maybe a permission problem?

  • I came across the same issue today, and just registered to post the solution here.

    The traffic is now redirected to https://www.epgdata.com and apparently there is an issue with the certificate chain of the http://www.epgdata.com certificate. So you have to manually download the Thawte RSA CA 2018 intermediate certificate and install it on your Pi, then it will work again. Once downloaded, use update-ca-certificates (https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenia…ificates.8.html) to install it.

  • Depends on when you have purchased your 1-year subscription, since all existing subs will continue to be serviced until expiration (at least according to their website :) ).
