Kodi and/or Netflix on a Pi 3

I'm a total novice with this stuff, but currently I have a Pi 3 with Kano(?) installed for the kid. I'm thinking of converting it to a media player.
Is it possible to install software on there so that at start up, they can choose to either launch into Netflix or Kodi? I've read it's possible to launch into Kodi and have Netflix installed in there. Native Installation of Amazon or Netflix isn't possible on a RPi.
You can install Libreelec on it (A small read-only opetating System for Kodi) and in this you are able to install the Amazon VoD and Netflix Addons.
For this it's important to install a libreelec Beta Version (LE 9) with Kodi included, that's needed for the Inputstream Decode.
But Unser the limitation of DRM in Linux and without a Widevine Level 1 license, your are only able to play content up to 720p.

I think the best solution for this is to buy the new FireTV 4k Stick and use Netflix and Amazon with it.
Then you are able to combine all of the content under Kodi (Kodi for Android) of you wish.
